How To Support The Constitution Project As An Influencer

INTRODUCTION

What is the Squamish Nation Constitution Project?

The Constitution Project was set up following a vote to create a constitution by Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People at the People’s Assembly in November 2022. The Project has two years to undertake this work, bringing together our People to shape what we want our constitution to look like, before a referendum vote in September 2025. As Paítsmuḵ (Dave Jacobs) said when he proposed the creation of a Squamish Constitution, it will be “for us, by us.”

Why is it important?

We want the Constitution to represent our community and to support future generations of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People. That’s why it’s so important for every single Sḵwx̱wú7mesh person to help shape the Constitution through this Project. That’s where you, as an influence in our community, come in. 

YOUR ROLE

What do influencers bring to the table?

You have been identified as someone who holds a lot of sway in our community. When you post online, our People pay attention. That’s why your support for this Project–and specifically for helping to get Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People out to the different events or online opportunities to shape the Constitution–makes such a difference. Thank you for your help. 

Who is an influencer?

Influencers have been selected by the Constitution Project staff. If you think you can help the Project as an influencer and would like to be considered so you can be paid to post about and promote the Project, please contact Yususult (Rosemarie/Rose Williams) at info@constitutionproject.net. 

What can influencers do specifically?

The Project includes a number of milestone events that we need your help getting Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People out to, whether in-person or online. These include:

• Constitution Gatherings
  • Wednesday, June 26, 2024
  • Wednesday, October 2, 2024 
  • Sunday, November 17, 2024
  • Sunday, February 9, 2025
  • April 2025
  • May 2025
• Constitution Orientations (Summer 2025)
• Referendum (September 2025)

There are two ways to get paid by the Project as an influencer (see pricing levels below). You can either share or re-post the Project’s existing content with your own message of endorsement (level 1 pricing) or create your own content (see level 2 pricing). To be eligible for level 2 pricing, you’ll need to ensure that your own content meets the following criteria:

• It is in your unique voice and shows that you think participating in the Project is important
• It is supportive of the Constitution Project and the creation of a Squamish Constitution
• It seeks to inspire Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People who follow you to participate in milestone events

There may also be some ad hoc online engagement opportunities, including asking Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People to share their views and opinions in a survey, which we’ll let you know about when they come up. 

Do influencers need to follow the Brand Guidelines?

The Constitution Project has its own Brand Guidelines and style of writing. If you’re sharing or re-posting Project content with your own message of endorsement (level 1 pricing), then you’ll automatically be following those guidelines. But if you’re creating your own content (level 2 pricing), you will be using your own voice… and that’s great! 

We want your content (level 2 pricing) to reflect you, your voice, and your style to inspire Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People who follow you to participate in the Project to create our Nation’s Constitution. So, as long as you meet the three criteria to be eligible for level 2 pricing when developing your own content, then the only brand you need to think about when creating content is your own. Here are the level 2 pricing criteria again:

• It is in your unique voice and shows that you think participating in the Project is important
• It is supportive of the Constitution Project and the creation of a Squamish Constitution
• It seeks to inspire Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People who follow you to participate in milestone events

What’s in it for you?

First and foremost, using your influence to inspire more Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People to participate in the Constitution Project means that you’re a vital part of this huge, historic opportunity for our Nation. You will be one of the reasons our People seize the opportunity to build our future together through our constitution by setting out who we are as a Nation and what we stand for as Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People.

But, as an influencer invited to do this work, we also want to recognize your contribution. Here are the two pricing structures:

• Level 1 pricing (sharing content) | Incentive agreed before posting
  • To be eligible for this payment, you will:
    • Receive an email or message from us asking you to share a post we’re planning and confirm that you are willing to share it on your social media channel(s) the day we schedule it to go live;
    • Either share or re-post the content directly from the Project channels to your channels on the same day, with a supportive comment or endorsement.
    • Please ensure to send us a screenshot or link to your post so that we can pay you! Note that payments can take up to three weeks to be processed. 
      
• Level 2 pricing (creating custom content) | Incentive agreed before posting
  • To be eligible for this payment, you will:
    • Receive an email or message from us asking you to post about an upcoming milestone event or engagement opportunity we’d like you to promote within a specific date range;
    • Create your own post whilst ensuring that you meet the three post criteria:
      • It is in your unique voice and shows that you think participating in the Project is important
      • It is supportive of the Constitution Project and the creation of a Squamish Constitution
      • It seeks to inspire Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People who follow you to participate in milestone events
    • Please ensure to send us a screenshot or link to your post so that we can pay you! Note that payments can take up to three weeks to be processed.
